No. Virginia does not generally allow a direct transfer of a contractor license from another state. Even if you are fully licensed elsewhere, you must complete Virginia's licensing process through DPOR. However, your out-of-state experience may count toward the experience requirements.

What You Still Need to Do
Complete the Mandatory Pre-License Course
Complete the 8-hour pre-license course. This is a requirement for all license classes (A, B and C).
Choose Your Class of License
You need to choose between Class A, Class B or Class C.
Your amount of experience, the size projects you are looking to perform, your annual revenue and the business entity's net worth are factors that determine your class of license.
Pass the Business/Law Exam
This is required for Class A and Class B only. Class C is exempt from this exam.

Choose Your Specialty
Choose your specialty based upon the experience of your Qualified Individual and the types of projects you will be performing. You will also need to establish a business entity in Virginia.
