Your Virginia or Maryland
Contractor License
Is Worth the Trip.
Contractors fly and drive to our McLean/Tysons Corner, VA classroom from Florida, New York, Arizona, Massachusetts, Georgia, California, Tennessee and beyond β because passing on the first attempt is worth it.
All exam preparation courses are exclusively and completely live, in-person only, instructor-Led at our McLean/Tysons Corner, VA facility β conveniently located on the 9th Floor of Tower 1 at Greensboro Station, with hotels, restaurants, and parking steps away.
One Class. One Exam.
Done Right β The First Time.
The Virginia DPOR and Maryland PSI licensing exams are not easy. Contractors who show up without targeted preparation fail at a significantly higher rate β and failing means rebooking fees, more waiting, and more time away from work. Our candidates don't have that problem.
We Understand the Exam
Our instructors teach specifically to the Virginia DPOR and Maryland PSI licensing exams β not a generic contractor curriculum. Every hour in our classroom targets specific exam material.
A Near-100% First-Attempt Pass Rate
We've licensed over 6,500 contractors with a pass rate that no other prep program in the region matches. When your license β and your livelihood β is on the line, that track record matters.
A Central, Easy-to-Reach Location
Our McLean/Tysons Corner, VA facility is situated on the 9th Floor of Tower 1 at 1765 Greensboro Station Place β close to I-495 and the Silver Line Metro, with major hotel chains, restaurants, and Dulles International Airport all nearby. Flying in or driving up from out of state is straightforward.
Flexible Scheduling for Your Timeline
With afternoon and evening sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, you can often complete your prep course and take your exam in the same trip β minimizing the time you spend away from your home state and your business. And now, with proctored exams, many fly in to take our course and test out conveniently in their home state.
"I flew in from Florida specifically to take this class before my Virginia exam. The instructors knew every section of the test cold. I passed on my first attempt and was back home by Thursday."β Recent Graduate, Virginia Class A License

Not Sure If You Need Virginia or Maryland Licensure?
If you're performing work in Virginia valued over $1,000 β or in Maryland as a home improvement contractor β you need a state license. Many out-of-state contractors are surprised to learn that their home state license does not automatically transfer.
We can help you understand which license you need and which exam prep course is the right fit. Give us a call β it's a 5-minute conversation.
Call (703) 475-0314 βReciprocity & Transfer Questions
Virginia does offer reciprocity with some states for certain license types. However, most reciprocity arrangements still require passing the Virginia law exam. Our instructors are well-versed in the transfer and reciprocity process and can point you in the right direction.
Ask Us About Reciprocity βOut-of-State Candidates Ask Usβ¦
Do I need to be a Virginia resident to get a Virginia contractor license?
No. Virginia does not require residency for contractor licensure. Any contractor β regardless of home state β can apply for and hold a Virginia Class A, B, or C contractor license. You simply need to meet DPOR's experience and exam requirements.
Can I take the exam the same week as my prep class?
Yes β many out-of-state candidates take our class on Tuesday or Wednesday and sit for their PSI exam later that same week. We recommend reviewing our schedule first, then scheduling your exam for within a few days of the class. Call us and we'll help you coordinate.
How do I schedule my Virginia DPOR or Maryland PSI exam?
Both the Virginia contractor license exam and the Maryland MHIC exam are administered by PSI. You can schedule your exam online at psiexams.com or by calling PSI directly. Again, review our schedule before scheduling your exam date. Call us at (703) 475-0314 to find the right class session.
Is parking available at our McLean/Tysons Corner facility?
Yes. Our facility at 1765 Greensboro Station Place, Tower 1-9th Floor in McLean/Tysons Corner has parking available. It's conveniently located near I-495 and the Greensboro Metro Station on the Silver Line, and close to major hotels if you're staying overnight.
What if I've already failed the exam once? Can your class still help?
Absolutely β and this is one of the most common reasons out-of-state contractors seek us out. Our instructors are highly skilled at identifying exactly which exam sections candidates struggle with. Many of our students come to us after a failed attempt and pass on their very next try.
How is your program different from online prep courses?
Online courses can't replicate a live instructor answering your questions in real time, drilling the specific sections that trip candidates up, and adjusting to the needs of the room. Our near-100% first-attempt pass rate is the result of live instruction and our propriety methodology β not a self-paced video library.
